Both apps are made for writing something down fast. The difference starts the moment the note is saved. Keep hands you a card to tidy. Flipnotes files it, finds the date and remembers the place.
Google Keep is a good app for short notes and lists. You write, and the note sits there as a card. To get any order you add labels, colors and pins to each card by hand, and set reminders yourself. The more you save, the bigger the wall gets, and to us that wall starts to feel like a chore.
Flipnotes starts from the same idea: write it down before you forget. Then it does the tidying. Each note is filed, dates go into an agenda and a calendar, and Roll the dice opens an old note you had forgotten.
Keep needs four steps to save a typed note on a phone, and more to sort it, as Google describes them in its help centre. Flipnotes needs three, and the sorting is included.

Flipnotes
In Flipnotes the filing and the agenda entry happen after you save. Nothing is left to do by hand.
Flipnotes opens on today's page with the writing bar at the bottom. Type and tap Save. Or tap the mic and talk, and your words are typed out as you speak. The camera takes a photo, and the pin adds where you are to your next note.
It is all in that one bar. No menu to open and no card to start first.

In Flipnotes the mic sits in the writing bar the moment you open the app. You talk, the words appear while you speak, and the saved note has the text and a play button.
Then the note is filed like any other, and a date you mention goes in your agenda.
More about voice notes
In Keep you set a reminder for a date and time yourself, note by note. It works, and the reminder also shows in Google Tasks and Calendar. But it is one more thing to fill in.
In Flipnotes you just write "Dentist with Mia on Thursday at 3pm". The date is picked up and the note appears in your agenda and your calendar, by week, month or year. You wrote a sentence, and that was the whole job.
More about the agenda
Tap the pin before you save and the note remembers where you were. Later you can open the map and see a pin for each place.
It helps with a restaurant you liked, a house you viewed or a parking spot.
More about locations
On a big wall of cards, old notes sink out of sight. Tap Roll the dice and Flipnotes opens a random note from your notebook. Tap again for the next one.
You will find things you forgot you wrote.

In Keep you organise with labels, colors and pins, and you add every one yourself. Keep's search also has filters for types and categories like books or travel, but a wall of cards you sort by hand is still your job.
In Flipnotes each note is put into one or more of over thirty categories after you save it, and notes with a date go in your agenda. You write. That is all you do.
"Dentist with Mia on Thursday at 3pm"
In your agenda on Thursday at 3 PM.
"Flight to Lisbon on Friday at 6:40 AM"
"Pay the car insurance by the 30th"
In your agenda on the 30th.
"Expert witness for Delgado: Dr Hanna Weiss, 0171 555 0192"
